Important notary manuscript act for the historical relevance of the characters mentioned.
This concerns the Counts Ricci, heirs of MarcAntonio Ricci, Sebastiano Ricci’s son, ‘noble of Ferrara and Modena’ and resident in Carpi. Ricci made headlines when on 8th August 1594, in Regensburg, as a representative of Alfonso II d’Este to the Emperor Rudolf II, he obtained for himself and for his heirs the Duchy of Modena and Reggio and the Countships of Rovigo and Carpi.
The notarial deed, before being inserted in an archive folder, had been delivered by hand closed with sealing wax seal and folded several times.
The notarial seals are interesting: one drawn with pen and the other, in the shape of a flower, has been embossed. The act refers to a power of attorney that the brothers Sigismondo and Claudio Ricci confer on the younger brother Tiberio to the notary Alessandro Buffi of Ferrara.
A rare document in its uniqueness.
